Honey & Community
In the heart of the African wilderness, woven into the very fabric of the land lies the story of Mead, a drink steeped in tradition and the tapestry of African legends. It speaks of a time when humankind and nature danced in harmony. It is a tale of unity, where ancient people joined forces with the creatures of the wild to harvest honey, the liquid gold that would become the revered Nectar of the Gods. Our commitment revolves around expanding our positive ecological footprint and we are excited to take you on the journey!

Our Partnership with African Parks
Empowering Communities Through Sustainable Beekeeping
At Zambian Meadery, we are proud to partner with African Parks, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas across Africa. Through this collaboration, we support a transformative honey project in Zambia’s national parks, that marries biodiversity conservation with economic development.
Sustainable Beekeeping for Conservation
The African Parks Honey Project empowers local residents, especially those living in and around the national parks – by training them in sustainable beekeeping practices. This initiative provides communities with a viable source of income, reducing the risk of unsustainable and illegal harvesting of natural resources and wildlife, such as deforestation for agriculture or charcoal production. By aligning local livelihoods with conservation goals, the project provides economic incentives that empower communities to actively support conservation.
High-Quality Honey from Pristine Woodlands
The honey produced through this project is of exceptional quality, thanks to the region’s untouched miombo woodlands. Rich in biodiversity, these forests offer the perfect environment for bees to thrive. The honey not only caters to local markets but also reaches international audiences, adding further incentive for conservation efforts.
Making a Lasting Impact Together
By purchasing honey directly from this initiative, we at Zambian Meadery contribute to the long-term environmental and economic well-being of the national parks’ ecosystems and their surrounding communities. This partnership is a shining example of how community-based conservation can yield significant benefits for both nature and people.
Join us in supporting this impactful project. Every purchase you make helps protect vital ecosystems and improves the lives of those who are the stewards of these lands.
